Grow With DEL
Looking for an outdoor job that actually means something? At Diverse Environmental Landscapes (DEL), we’re hiring entry-level and experienced crew members who want more than just a paycheck. We restore habitats, manage invasive species, and design sustainable landscaping with rainwater drainage solutions — our biggest challenge and our greatest impact in protecting homes from flooding, supporting wildlife, and improving communities.
This is hands-on work. Real landscaping jobs, not desk jobs. From stabilizing streambanks to building rain gardens, from planting prairies to hauling brush, we create lasting change for people and nature. And you won’t be lost in the shuffle — you’ll work directly alongside the owner, learning from years of field experience in restoration, construction, and sustainable design.
If you’re searching for an entry-level job in landscaping, environmental work, or construction where you can build real skills and make a difference — this is it.
What You’ll Do That Matters
- Habitat Restoration – planting prairies, wetlands, and woodlands that bring back pollinators, songbirds, and biodiversity.
- Invasive Species Management – removing buckthorn, honeysuckle, garlic mustard, and other invasive plants that crowd out native ecosystems.
- Rainwater Drainage Solutions – installing rain gardens, bioswales, and grading systems that prevent flooded basements, protect property, and improve water quality.
- Outdoor Construction – grading soil, seeding lawns, and building stonework that combines durability with ecological design.
- One-on-One Mentorship – working directly with the owner on projects and learning what textbooks can’t teach you — practical knowledge built from years of on-the-ground experience.
Skills You’ll Carry for Life
This isn’t just seasonal work — it’s the kind of job that changes how you see the world around you.
- Ecological Awareness – you’ll start noticing plants, wildlife, and patterns in the land that most people walk past without thinking twice. Once you see it, you can’t unsee it — the outdoors goes from background scenery to something you actually understand.
- Problem-Solving & Adaptability – you’ll learn how to think on your feet when weather, terrain, or site conditions change.
- Resilience & Work Ethic – tough, physical days outdoors build grit that pays off everywhere in life.
- Craftsmanship & Pride – being able to point to a rain garden, shoreline, or restored prairie and say, “I helped build that.”
- Community Impact – your work doesn’t just help one yard — it prevents flooding, supports pollinators, and creates healthier spaces for people and wildlife.
- Direct Learning – few jobs give you the chance to work one-on-one with the owner — here, you’ll get direct mentorship and walk away with knowledge that sticks for a lifetime.
The Real Work (No Sugarcoating)
Let’s be clear: this job is tough. You’ll be:
- Grading land and digging trenches so water flows where it should — not into someone’s basement.
- Pushing wheelbarrows full of soil, rock, and mulch across uneven ground.
- Tree trimming and brush hauling, including thorny invasive shrubs.
- Working in the elements — hot summers, rainy days, and chilly mornings in spring and fall.
- Using tools and equipment that require both strength and focus.
It’s physical, it’s dirty, and some days are a grind. But here’s the truth: this is the kind of work that protects homes, restores ecosystems, and leaves something real behind. And because you’ll often be working directly with the owner, you’ll not only learn how to do the work, but why it matters — to the land, to wildlife, and to the people we serve.
What We Offer
- Seasonal work (mid-March to mid-December), 30–40 hours/week — perfect for students, early-career, or entry-level applicants looking to learn and grow.
- Pay based on experience, with bonus opportunities.
- Mentorship in landscaping, construction, and ecology — including direct, hands-on training from the owner.
- A team culture built on respect, hard work, and celebrating wins.
Who We’re Looking For
- 18 or older, dependable, and ready to work outdoors.
- Interested in landscaping jobs, outdoor work, or environmental jobs near you.
- Background in landscaping, ecology, horticulture, or biology is a plus — but hustle and willingness to learn matter most.
- Someone who embraces hard work and wants to see their effort make a visible difference for clients, communities, and ecosystems.
Why DEL?
Because this isn’t just another seasonal landscaping job. At DEL, you’ll help restore ecosystems, manage invasive species, and build sustainable landscapes that protect homes and support wildlife.
It’s not easy work, but it’s work that changes you. You’ll start to see things differently — noticing plants, water, soil, and wildlife in ways most people never think about. It’s like the outdoors shifts from something you walk past to something you understand.
And unlike most entry-level jobs, you’ll be learning directly from the owner — years of field experience, tips, and tricks that will give you a perspective and skillset most people never get. That stays with you long after the season ends.
